Dometic Automotive has expanded its line of prewired battery boxes, which are 35 to 40 percent lighter.
The new units are now available in three sizes to meet the power requirements for day cabs, mid-size sleepers and full-size sleepers. Previously, the boxes fit large sleepers and day cabs. They also now fit between the frame rail, behind the sleeper.
The package comes with the correct number of AGM batteries and a power inverter, with all the components fully wired for easy installation. The battery boxes are built out of a corrosion-resistant aluminum and are the same size or smaller than typical diesel-powered APU.
Dometic says the boxes can save more than three hours in installation time for a typical battery-powered HVAC system.
