Mystik Lubricants has launched a new approach to the oil change industry by combining both automotive consumer services and commercial preventive maintenance under one roof.

The new Mystik Service Centers will perform PM for commercial fleets and offer store owners a proprietary Web-based oil analysis service, an online database for commercial customer information, and AOCA-based training.

"The new Mystik Service Centers change the fast lube paradigm by integrating automotive and commercial services to counteract the industry downshifts we've seen in recent years," said Dave Kunkel, sales and marketing manager, Mystik Lubricants.

Most fast lubes are designed and built specifically to cater to passenger cars, making it more challenging for commercial fleets to find service providers who can accommodate their large trucks, along with accounting structure and fleet service histories. This can lead to excessive down time and scheduling challenges with complicated logistics.

By offering heavy-duty PM, Mystik Service Centers not only help commercial fleets keep their trucks in top running condition and maintain safety requirements, but they also offer a viable solution to fleets by providing professional service for a quick PM turnaround. Instead of having to take a truck out of service for a day, commercial fleets can take their truck to a Mystik Service Center where the driver can wait with the truck and within two hours the truck is available to make its next run.

All Mystik Service Centers will be able to offer LubeAlert to their Mystik heavy-duty engine oil customers. LubeAlert has helped more than 1,700 fleets with 160,000 power units optimize drain intervals and maintenance schedules. LubeAlert has oil analysis history on most makes and models of diesels in service today; this historical trend data can project potential wear and tear on different types of engines. As the 'heart' of a good fleet maintenance program, LubeAlert can also manage grease and DOT scheduled maintenance, along with missed equipment maintenance lists and abnormal outcomes reports to help identify potential equipment failures. With LubeAlert, users can track a serviced vehicle and get a maintenance "check up" report from Mystik in the event of a problem.

"The fast lube industry has overlooked commercial vehicles and this is an enormous audience that offers financial growth opportunities for owners," said Kunkel. "With premium product and training rounding out the Mystik center offerings, we have an opportunity to redesign how our industry approaches its business."
