There is now a way to monitor and control refrigeration using two-way communication technology with the introduction of CarrierWeb's ReeferMate.
This new technology allows fleet managers to monitor reefer assets from anywhere.

The company says the system allows for "always-on" monitoring. thanks to its weatherproof and rugged components. ReeferMate can be mounted in the cowling of the reefer compartment, and connects directly into the reefer power source or using the seven-way hitch. This provides real-time position, fuel and door monitoring.

The unit interfaces directly to the microprocessor controllers of reefer units provided by all major manufacturers, CarrierWeb says.

"Our Always-On technology has been adopted by fleet owners who recognize that tracking, monitoring and communication technology is a key component in making better business decisions, protecting assets and cargo, and producing visible results to improve the bottom line," said John Marous, president and CEO of CarrierWeb.

ReeferMate also features temperature controls to protect loads from spoiling, which can reduce freight claims and improve insurance rates, according to the company. Carriers can also monitor operating state, alarms and alarm disposition clearing, power and battery status as well as fuel level. ReeferMate also reports on exception events, including on-time status, fuel changes, route deviations and financial parameters.
