The American Trucking Associations is now offering "ATA Practical Cargo Securement: Guidelines for Drivers, Carriers and Shippers."
This guidebook is an easy-to-read tool to help properly secure loads to stay safe, compliant and fine-free. It features diagrams, pictures and charts covering basic principles, preparing the cargo for transport, vehicle requirements for vans and flatbeds, cargo tiedowns, loading and securing all types of freight, inspecting cargo, and enforcement and compliance.
Distributed by ATA and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, the guide is based on the North American Cargo Securement Standards which served as the model for the regulations adopted by the United States (49 CFR Parts 392 and 393) and Canada (NSC Standard #10).
