Hendrickson Truck Suspension Systems announced the availability of the Steertek axle on International's LoneStar and ProStar Multilink front suspension systems.

The International proprietary 12,350-pound capacity front air suspension with the fabricated Steertek axle begins rolling off production lines this month.

A premium suspension and axle system, Multilink delivers outstanding ride quality in addition to a weight savings of up 25-pounds compared to International's standard parabolic leaf-spring suspension, according to Hendrickson.

Steertek's box shaped cross section resists horizontal, vertical and twisting forces more effectively than traditional I-beams while the two-piece knuckle assembly simplifies kingpin bushing serviceability, the maker said.

Additionally, the Steertek axle brings its advantages to Hendrickson's Softek - a lightweight, mechanical, single-leaf, front steer suspension and axle system and Airtek - a front air suspension and axle system, Hendrickson officials said.
