Heil Enviromental introduced the MultiTask SL, a three-in-one refuse collection vehicle featuring a drop-frame chassis configuration and dual side-loading capability that allows operators to collect containers in manual, semi-automated and automated modes.

The new vehicle reduces the total time needed to collect a standard route of residential waste by 20 percent or more with single-operator capability, delivering a productivity advantage for municipalities, private haulers, and major waste collection companies.

According to Jody Hurley, Heil production manager, the MultiTask SL offers an optional, strengthened and redesigned TeleGrip lift arm that can be used on automatic and semi-automatic vehicles. The arm features cycle time ranging from 8-20 seconds and 88 inches of reach. Grabbers may be stowed in a work-ready position at the chassis frame rail for a slim width of less than 102 inches. For operation in communities that require a narrow 96-inch vehicle width, the MultiTask SL stores the lift in the vehicle's hopper.

The TeleGrip's design also permits the MultiTask SL to be used in narrow streets and alleys, with the arm acting as a cart tipper for receptacles that may be located close to the vehicle body. A low body height limits the potential for paper to blow out of the hopper during tipping, while providing for complete dumping of over-filled 96-gallon containers.

The MultiTask SL allows an operator to continue picking up and dumping waste containers while the packer blade is retracted or extended, and maximizes effective time on route with the ReadyPack feature, which automatically compacts the payload with every arm cycle.

The truck's fully welded interlace subframe offers resistance to salt and corrosion. Other features include a large hopper capacity, twin dump-hoist cylinders, Heil's, Shur-Lock hydraulic tailgate locks and Operate-at-Idle-System. Four body capacities are offered: 24, 27, 30, and 33 cubic yards.
