The new Jost KKS Comfort Coupling System won the Trailer Innovation 2009 award in the safety category at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Germany.

The KKS Comfort Coupling System is a driver assistance system that controls and fully automates all functions of the coupling and decoupling process previously performed manually. It eliminates manual connection of the fifth wheel couplings, as well as manually cranking the landing gears and connecting or separating the spiral cables. Operation and remote display are located in the driver cabin for all functions.

The KKS consists of a sensor coupling with pneumatic unlocking, an automated plug connection between the truck and the trailer, and electrically operated landing gears. The driver can safely and easily operate the coupling system. All components can also be operated manually. It is possible to combine either KKS trucks and conventional trailers, or KKS trailers and conventional trucks.

Ten European trade magazines selected the winner of the Trailer Innovation 2009 award. More than 70 manufacturers from eight European countries applied in the five categories of Safety, Chassis, Body (Design), Components, and Concept. The Jost KKS system was named the best of the 21 candidates in the Safety category.
