ALK COPILOT 9

ALK Technologies has introduced CoPilot Truck/ Laptop 9, an enhanced version of the company's truck-specific, voice-guided navigation solution with the latest routing and map data.

CoPilot Truck combines the truck routing, mileage and mapping capabilities of ALK's PC*Miler software with the GPS route-guidance of its CoPilot navigation technology on a laptop in the truck cab.

New features in CoPilot Truck/ Laptop 9 include updated PC*Miler 20 map data, exportable state mileage reports for easy fuel tax reporting, and expanded hazmat routing options.

FREIGHTLINER BREAKDOWN ASSISTANCE

Freightliner's new Excelerator breakdown assistance program for owner-operators and fleets up to 25 units offers a 24/7 call center staffed by Freightliner personnel who are experts at assessing drivers' needs, finding the best local service providers, expediting repair parts and assisting with towing and other roadside services.

Excelerator On Call offers breakdown assistance on a pay-per-event basis. Excelerator Preferred offers discounted services and special programs in addition to breakdown assistance. Excelerator Preferred Plus provides unlimited breakdown assistance coordination and up to three tows and one extraction per year.

GOODYEAR FUELMAX TIRE TECHNOLOGY

Goodyear introduced a new fuel-efficient commercial tire technology and three new tires for long-haul trucks.

The company's Fuel Max Technology is featured on new steer, drive and trailer tires and retreads. An 18-wheeler outfitted with tires featuring Fuel Max Technology could achieve up to 4 percent improved fuel economy. Actual SAE test results showed an 8 percent improvement in fuel economy compared with standard Goodyear over-the-road tires, but Goodyear engineers say 4 percent savings is a more accurate real-world figure.

The technology blends fuel efficiency with long tread life and excellent performance.

KENWORTH CLEAN POWER SYSTEM

The Kenworth Clean Power System will be available as a factory option on its new Kenworth T660 72-inch AeroCab sleeper beginning in the second quarter of next year.

The Clean Power system is a joint development between Kenworth and vehicle climate specialist Webasto, using a cold storage medium with its own electrical refrigeration supply, a dedicated battery pack and a diesel-fired heater.

The cold storage system will cool for up to 10 hours in 95-degree temperatures — not coincidentally the same time as the required off-duty time.

NRI'S LOAD-GRIP FRICTION MAT

NRI Industries' Load-Grip friction mat helps carriers comply with securement regulations.

Load-Grip friction mats are manufactured from fiber reinforced masticated rubber, which provides tear and stretch resistance. This high-coefficient friction mat assists in the reduction of load movement tendency by a proven factor of eight. Speeds as low as 2.5 mph can affect a motor carrier's load, which in turn, can damage valuables.

Load-Grip is a recognized load restraint device by the DOT, according to the company.

RIDEWELL LIGHTWEIGHT AUXILIARY SUSPENSION

Ridewell Suspensions has developed a new self-steering, liftable auxiliary axle suspension system for trailers.

The model RSS-232T has a capacity rating of 13,200 pounds and is available in ride heights ranging from 10 1 / 2 to 18 1 / 2 inches. The system includes a lightweight, fully integrated axle and weighs less than 900 pounds. The suspension's simple structure reduces complexity, increases strength and optimizes weight.

The RSS-232T has a compact mounting envelope as low as 21.7 inches for mid-mount and high mount versions and 22 inches for the low mount version, and 13.5 inches of total axle travel.

DIAGNOSTIC SOFTWARE FROM OTC GENISYS

OTC, a business unit of SPX Corp., has announced the release of new diagnostic software for Genisys users who service Class 4 to Class 8 trucks. The heavy-duty standard software is ideal for mixed fleet service applications. The release covers HD J1587, J1708 and J1939 standards, as well as CAN, engine and transmission/ABS diagnostics.

This software covers Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, Mack Trucks, International, GM, GMC, Ford and many medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Transmission and ABS system coverage includes Bendix, Detroit, Eaton, Meritor Wabco, Caterpillar, Cummins and Allison.

LUBER-FINER TOTAL TEC FUEL FILTER

Luber-finer's new TotalTec fuel filters now feature more dirt-holding capacity and 99 percent filtering efficiency. The TotalTec fuel filter's exterior casing offers an all-metal housing to withstand higher pulse fatigue. Inside the casing, the filter is designed with a high-performance filter media that allows for more dirt-holding capacity and 99 percent filtering efficiency.

The OEM design of the new TotalTec fuel filter also consists of a "no plastic bowl" construction that provides an alternative to standard fuel/water separators.

HADLEY CONVEX MIRROR FEATURES TURN INDICATOR

Hadley announces a new convex mirror for the truck market that includes a built-in turn indicator. The TIC (turn indicator convex) mirror allows a fleet or owner-operator to include a turn indicator on a West Coast mounting system without having to replace the main mirror or spec a separate turn indicator because it's built into the glass of the convex mirror.

The indicator uses long-life LED lighting technology, providing reliability and high-contrast brightness and increased visibility in all light conditions. The LED lighting component is mounted within the glass and allows the indicator to function as part of the mirror.

CARRIER TRANSICOLD IMPROVES COMFORTPRO

The ComfortPro Auxiliary Power Unit from Carrier Transicold has been improved with a 1,000-hour service interval, an industry-standard refrigerant and a 60-amp alternator.

The ComfortPro APU offers an all-electric architecture, the award-winning Deltek hybrid diesel-electric technology found in Carrier's Vector 1800MT trailer refrigeration units.

Using a larger oil reservoir and new oil filter doubled the oil-service interval. By changing to R-134a, ComfortPro's refrigerant was brought into synch with automotive air-conditioning systems. The new alternator provides 50 percent more power than the original.

VOLVO I-SHIFT SMART TRANSMISSION

Volvo Trucks North America's I-Shift automated transmission for 2008 trucks is designed for Volvo's new heavy-duty diesel engines. The truck, the engine and the transmission have all been engineered and designed to work as one integrated, efficient machine. The I-Shift is a 12-speed, automated mechanical transmission. It doesn't use synchronizers in its main section and it doesn't require a clutch pedal. The controls are on a compact control console and lever attached to the driver's seat.

I-Shift is programmed with the engines' efficiency map for each engine rating. The transmission combines this knowledge with sensors to continuously calculate the vehicle's speed, acceleration, torque demand, weight, rolling and air resistance and road grade to predict and select the most efficient engine use.

TRUCK-LITE LED BACK-UP LAMPS

Truck-Lite has added two new Signal-Stat LED backup lamps to its lineup. The backup lamps come in 4-inch round and 6-inch oval sizes. Both have an extensive pattern of multiple diodes favored by many owner-operators and show truck enthusiasts.

These popular-sized and -shaped lamps retrofit use standard industry plug connections, making them retrofittable to virtually all existing heavy-duty trucks and trailers.

QUALCOMM OMNIVISION

Qualcomm's new OmniVision mobile computing platform is built from the ground up and is backward-compatible with the OmniTracs and OmniExpress mobile communications systems. Like the OmniTracs system, OmniVision will provide wireless service over a satellite network,offering complete coverage in the U.S. and Canada.

The system features an advanced text-to-speech feature to help the company update drivers. The system features a more powerful computer processor and an integrated touchscreen, color display and keyboard that are tethered to the server for the driver interface. A remote control unit will allow quick in-cab access to features such as text-to-speech, engine-read messages and navigation directions.

PANASONIC TOUGHBOOK NOTEBOOKS WITH EMBEDDED WIRELESS

Panasonic Computer Solutions has introduced three new rugged Panasonic Toughbook notebook computers: The ultraportable CF-W5, tablet alternative CF-T5, and the thin-and-light desktop replacement CF-Y5.

The new Toughbooks feature magnesium alloy cases, flexible internal connectors and shock-mounted and removable hard drives. They are tested to withstand a 1-foot drop. The hard drives are rated to survive a fall of 30 inches.

The new Toughbook models incorporate a "wireless-ready" design.

SIEMENS VDO TRUCK NAVIGATION SYSTEM

Siemens VDO says such time-consuming nuisances as unexpected dead-end streets, forced U-turns and too-low bridges will soon be things of the past for truck drivers using the company's new navigation system.

Siemens has developed what it calls the first true truck navigation system, based on its well-known in-car systems. The company incorporated commercial vehicle map data in addition to software that includes the truck's specific characteristics, such as width and axle load. The vehicle-specific data is matched with clearance heights, bridge weight restrictions and other information contained in the map data. Furthermore, the way the software calculates routes takes the driving characteristics of large trucks into account.

AIR-WEIGH FOR STRAIGHT TRUCKS

Air-Weigh's 5800 Series of on-board scales has been expanded to include new models designed specifically for straight trucks.

The Straight Truck Scale was designed for vehicles with an air-suspension drive axle and a leaf spring steer axle. It will allow accurate onboard weighing for owners of expedited trucks, delivery trucks, dump trucks, garbage trucks and other straight truck applications.

The Air-Weigh Straight Truck Scale is permanently installed in the dash and calibrated to each suspension on the vehicle. With no operator interaction required, the 2-inch gauge display automatically shows the steer and drive weights on one screen.

 

TANDEM STOPPERS EASY TANDEM SLIDING

Tandem Stoppers Quality Steel Pins allow drivers to slide tandems safely and efficiently, without the added hassle of constant readjustment.

The pins simply slide into the desired hole, the driver will lock the trailer brake, slide forward or backward enabling the pin to lock into the desired location, and then remove the steel pin.

The process is safe, fast and easy, allowing drivers to accurately distribute the trailer load on the first attempt.

WIX ADDS BIOSHIELD TO CABIN AIR FILTERS

Wix Filtration Corp. will include BioShield 75, a patented technology that provides an invisible layer of protection against odor-causing bacteria, fungi and algae, in Wix's line of cabin air filters.

Once applied, BioShield 75's invisible microbiostatic coating becomes part of the filter fiber, polymerizing and standing up like spikes to eliminate microbials. In addition to inhibiting the growth of mold, mildew, algae and bacteria, BioShield 75 protects against microbial deterioration, discoloration and odor.

Grote offers what it says is the heavy-duty vehicle industry's first surface mount LED side turn lamp.

Designed to last the life of vehicle, the new lamp provides plenty of light to the front for drivers to see in their rear view mirrors.

The side turn design features two Lumileds Luxeon LEDs, one top emitter and one side emitter. The combination of these light sources with jeweled, active reflectors is effective at placing light where it is needed. An inner lens array optimizes LED output while eliminating the need for expensive additional LEDs.

FLEET DIRECTOR SYSTEM BY TELETRAC

Teletrac's new FleetDirector turn-by-turn vehicle routing and navigation system provides speed-calibrated, real-time, turn-by-turn, verbal directions to drivers.

As an integrated component of FleetDirector's eClient fleet management software suite, TBT allows dispatchers to select vehicles, assign destinations and download driving directions with minimal effort. TBT allows the dispatcher to automate several actions related to vehicle selection and assignment, destination and route selection and verification of onboard capture of the navigation download.

SKYBITZ SMART SENSOR TRACKING

SkyBitz says its new Smart Sensor Tracking offers trucking companies a new type of trailer tracking, with arrival and departure notification for more effective trailer utilization.

The Smart Sensor Tracking system uses SkyBitz's motion-based Smart Sensor. Fleet managers can now see the date- and time-stamped location of a trailer from departure to arrival, with the ability to automatically filter out non essential starts and stops, such as traffic lights and fuel stops.

JOSAM WHEEL ALIGNMENT STATION

Josam's new wheel alignment station uses wireless Bluetooth technology. The Mobile Support Center, including the PC, flat-panel monitor and docking stations, is battery powered and independent of wall plugs.

Only two Bluetooth measuring units are required to perform vehicle alignment on all vehicles and all axles, on any configuration of up to 16-axle vehicles. The flat-panel display screen adjusts from floor level to overhead to provide visibility from the cab to under the chassis.

OXLITE MANUFACTURING WINCH WINDER

Oxlite Manufacturing has introduced the Winch Winder, made for truck drivers by truck drivers.

The Winch Winder is a tool that makes rewinding the cargo straps on the side of flatbed trucks simple and easy. With its one-hand operation, it can cut winding time in half. It will even work on old and rusted winches. Aluminum construction resists corrosion.

HENDRICKSON QUAANTUM FX FOR VOCATIONAL TRAILERS

H endrickson took the next step in suspension system integration with the introduction of Quaantum FX, complete with HNP or HUS long-life wheel ends.

The Quaantum FX melds suspension components, including extended-service brakes and wheel ends, air springs and shock absorbers, to work as part of a cohesive, long-life unit. All Quaantum FX units feature the Cam Tube System, which along with Hendrickson Extended Service (HXS) brakes complement Hendrickson's advanced wheel-end components — Hendrickson Unitized System (HUS) and the HNP with the unique P90 spindle.

ZONAR USES RFID FOR PRETRIPS

Zonar Systems' new Electronic Vehicle Inspection Report System uses a handheld tool to help drivers do better pretrip inspections.

Durable, self-adhesive RFID (radio frequency identification) tags are positioned around the vehicle in critical inspection zones. When a driver holds the Zonar handheld reader within four inches of the tag, it transmits data to the reader, such as location on the vehicle, vehicle ID and components to be inspected.

The reader displays the list of components the driver needs to check in that "zone." If the driver finds a problem, he or she can document the condition by pushing the red button.

FORMULA BLUE BY BENDIX SPICER

Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC is launching a revamped and complete all-makes product line of replacement commercial medium-duty and select commercial light-duty hydraulic brake parts under the Formula Blue brand.

The Formula Blue product line expands the Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake offering to include a full line of hydraulics parts for model year coverage up to 2007 for the broadest range of domestic and import makes and commercial vehicle applications.

FUEL-EFFICIENT TIRES BY YOKOHAMA

Yokohama Tire has launched the longer-lasting, fuel-efficient 703ZL tire. The new 703ZL tire features the deepest tread in the industry — a full inch — with the lowest rolling resistance in its category. It also has more rubber on the outside rib,

Other features include an optimum rubber compound for higher mileage and improved cut- and chipping-resistance; a funnel-shaped groove wall for enhanced traction; and a new base compound that reduces tire heat buildup and improves tread wear.

STEMCO BAT RF REAL-TIME MILEAGE

BAT RF by Stemco and SkyBitz have teamed up to offer mileage readings in conjunction with real-time trailer tracking. SkyBitz and Stemco will provide a direct interface between their primary product lines to enable accurate mileage readings for every trailer.

Using a wireless module installed with the SkyBitz GLS 200 trailer-tracking unit, the Stemco TracBAT wireless hubodometer transmits mileage updates, along with the vehicle location data, to the SkyBitz InSight web site. These TracBAT mileage reports can easily be downloaded into Microsoft Excel for customer billing and preventive maintenance scheduling.

PROLAM POLYURETHANE TRAILER FLOOR UNDERCOATING

Prolam announced a new hot-melt polyurethane reactive coating for the underside of laminated trailer floors that eliminates the challenges of traditional water-based paint coatings.

The undercoating, called PuR, has superior moisture resistance and outperforms traditional water-based coatings, according to the company.

Water-based paint systems currently used to protect the underside of trailer floors can break down when subjected to intense water spray and road debris.

GATES CABRUNNER CAB POWER WITHOUT IDLING

The CabRunner Integrated Power System from Gates allows drivers to operate cab accessories without the main engine running. Seamless integration with the truck's existing accessory system provides heat, air conditioning, lighting and power for the tractor and trailer. It also keeps the main engine ready for an easy startup.

A reconfigured pulley and belt system allows CabRunner IPS to drive all the truck's accessories when the truck engine is not running. A pulley design allows either the CabRunner IPS or the truck engine to operate the ABDS. On the highway, the engine is in control. In the parking lot, CabRunner IPS takes over.

PHILLIPS PERMALOGIC TC BATTERY SYSTEM

Phillips Industries has broadened its line of Permalogic products, trailer power management devices that allow for efficient use of the blue trailer accessory wire to operate interior dome lamps and liftgates.

The new Permalogic TC liftgate battery charging system allows for more frequent liftgate usage because it provides a 14.4-volt charge to the liftgate batteries, charging them to full capacity. And because it automatically interrupts the charge when the brakes are applied, it allows power to the ABS when needed.

The Permalogic TC Plus combines the liftgate battery charging system and the dome lamp controller into a single nosebox. Trailer dome lamps can be controlled normally and the liftgate charger is used when needed to provide maximum charge to the liftgate battery.

ANCRA EZ TORQUE GEAR-DRIVE WINCH

Ancra International's new EZ Torque Winch is a gear-drive winch that replaces the standard 34-inch winch bar with a 6-inch handle, allowing truckers to swap the chore of pumping a winch bar with a smooth, simple rotational motion.

The EZ Torque Winch requires a third of the amount of force needed to torque-tighten a winch strap. The device will achieve about 1,500 pounds of tension on the webbing (the tension needed to secure a load) with as few as a dozen rotations of its removable handle, after slack has been taken out of the straps.

 

HOLLAND ALUMINUM FIFTH WHEEL

Holland says its new FWAL Lightweight Aluminum Fifth Wheel is the lightest weight fifth wheel in the industry.

Designed by SAF-Holland and forged by Alcoa, the new Holland Aluminum Fifth Wheel is forged from the same aluminum alloy as Alcoa's aluminum truck wheels. It's rated for 55,000 pounds maximum vertical load and 150,000 pounds maximum drawbar pull. And it's 100 pounds lighter than competitive fifth wheels.

The Holland Aluminum Fifth Wheel also uses Holland's patented NoLube technology, which eliminates the use of grease on the top plate, between top plate and bracket, and in the lock mechanism.

MERITOR RIDE SENTRY TRAILER SUSPENSION

ArvinMeritor has introduced its RideSentry trailer suspension with a PinLoc slider locking mechanism. The mechanism reduces the potential for incidents by using an angled pin design and an air assist with a parking brake interlock to securely engage the slider pins before the trailer is put in transit.

The PinLoc slider locking mechanism helps ensure that slider pins are not accidentally disengaged after repositioning the trailer's slider mechanism.

The company's new suspension provides reliable performance for dry and refrigerated van trailers in capacities of 38,000 and 40,000 pounds.

PETERBILT DRIVER INFORMATION DISPLAY

A new Driver Information Display that is standard in select Peterbilt models provides operators with information on fuel economy, optimum engine speed, average speed over a measured distance, number of idling hours, warning signals and easy-to-understand text-based readouts instead of fault codes.

Users can scroll through menus and select display options through an ergonomically located dial, also on the dash. The Driver Information Display is standard in Peterbilt Models 389, 388, 386, 384, 367 and 365.

AFL AUTOMOTIVE COLD START SYSTEM

AFL Automotive, an Alcoa business, and Maxwell Technologies are offering a cold start system for commercial trucks using Maxwell's Boostcap ultracapacitors with AFL's power management system.

The cold start system can be used as part of a no-idle system. After powering overnight "hotel loads," some battery systems may not have enough power to start the vehicle in the morning. The AFL-Maxwell cold start system can ensure engine starts, and also can reduce or eliminate secondary energy storage systems used to start diesel engines from 6 liters to 16 liters in displacement.

MICHELIN ADVANTAGE PROGRAM

The Michelin Advantage Program helps smaller fleets and owner-operators get greater tire value, better roadside service and information.

A Michelin Advantage Visa Card offers cash back with every purchase — 3 percent on Michelin tire purchases and 1 percent on other purchases, including fuel. The Michelin ONCall system offers emergency breakdown assistance and access to products and services at predetermined prices.

Advantage also includes access to Michelin's business-to-business web portal, an online resource with information on tire maintenance software tools, fuel modeling, ONCall online dispatch/case management, products and services and training videos.

PEOPLENET G3 AND HANDHELD DEVICES

PeopleNet introduced its handheld platform that integrates PeopleNet's g3 mobile computing and communication system with rugged devices that let drivers gather and display information in and out of the truck.

Nearly any handheld device that runs on the Windows Mobile 5 platform can now operate with PeopleNet's g3 onboard system.

Drivers can quickly fill out essential business and regulatory forms, such as vehicle inspection reports and delivery manifests. These digital documents can be adapted to virtually any specialized requirements. Features on many handhelds, such as signature capture, bar code scanning and the ability to take digital photos, can all be used.

CINCH CALLED THE 'ULTIMATE WINCH'

T raction Technologies has introduced an airpowered winch it calls Cinch, "The Ultimate Winch."

The Cinch secures a load automatically, without a winch bar, while actively working to maintain a preset strap tension while the trailer is in motion.

Cinch uses the onboard air system on commercial trucks to apply in excess of 2,000 pounds to load straps. The tension can be simply adjusted to meet the requirements of any cargo type. Cinch will be marketed through a partnership with Ancra International.

MAXXIMA HYBRID SERIES LED LAMPS

Maxxima introduces the Hybrid Series device, which combines the stop/tail/turn function together with the backup lamp, using LEDs.

Available in a 4-inch round and an oval version, each has 27 LEDs — 18 white and nine red. The white backup lights surround the perimeter of the lamp, while the red stop/tail/turn lamps are located in the center.

ANDERSEN FUEL- EFFICIENT MUDFLAPS

Makers of a new patented tractor-trailer mudflap say it delivers at least 3 percent fuel savings as well as cutting blinding road wash spray.

Four traditional mudflaps cupping air behind a rig's tires contribute more than 5 percent to this overall drag effect, according to the company. Andersen mudflaps, while providing traditional mudflap function, have an open design that allows air to flow through them along with reducing road spray.

DANA SMARTWAVE TPMS FOR RETROFIT

Dana's Commercial Vehicle Systems group announced that its SmartWave TPMS tire pressure monitoring system is now available for retrofit installation on a variety of commercial truck models through original equipment dealerships.

Dana's SmartWave TPMS is a real-time electronic system that actively and accurately measures the air pressure and temperature for each tire on a vehicle. The system transmits data wirelessly to a receiver mounted on the vehicle and displays the information in the cab.

Initial configurations available include 4X2 with standard dual tires, 6X4 with wide-based tires, and 6X4 with standard dual tires.

KELDERMAN'S HYDRAULIC BED

Kelderman's hydraulic bed hauler for medium-duty trucks is designed for easy loading and unloading. The bed separates from the cab, traveling to the ground for cumbersome or heavy loads. Rollers provide a smooth transition for loading and unloading cargo.

The conversion allows for a quick detach for different beds and includes a heavy-duty hydraulic power pack, front and rear storage compartments, and a handheld remote for easy operation.

Kelderman's bed hauler is now available for most late model medium-duty Ford, Dodge, Chevy/GMC, Freightliner and International trucks.

NON-SMOKE SMOKE ODOR ELIMINATOR

A powerful new spray called Non-Smoke provides a safe and easy way to eliminate smoke and other offensive odors in the cab.

Non-Smoke works by changing the molecular structure of offensive odors and neutralizing them, according to the manufacturer, which also says it contains four times the active ingredients found in most other air freshener sprays.

RACOR SOOTCHEK PORTABLE OIL MONITOR

Parker Hannifin's Racor Division said its SootChek portable oil monitor is a handheld, battery-operated diagnostic tool that measures soot concentration levels in diesel engine lubricating oil up to 10 percent and higher, without sample preparation or solvents. The test can be completed in 45 seconds.

SootChek gives maintenance personnel an on-site, immediate and accurate measurement of the engine oil soot levels, so that oil can be changed before soot concentrations are too high.

ESPAR'S SURE START WARMS ENGINE, FUEL

Espar Heater Systems, which manufactures and supplies anti-idling technologies to the trucking industry, has announced the development of a system called Sure Start.

This package consists of the Espar Hydronic 5 Coolant Heater and Arctic Fox "Hot Foxes." Espar officials said they have addressed customer concerns about the ability to start the new EPA-compliant engines in cold weather, given the new fuels and, in some cases, the addition of biodiesel fuel.

Espar's solution was to engineer a system that heats both the engine and the fuel tanks, including the fuel being delivered to the engine and heaters.

EMP THERMAL KIT PROVIDES ENGINE COOLING CAPACITY

Engineered Machined Products manufactures the EMP Thermal Kit, which provides cooling solutions for fleets and owner-operators experiencing engine cooling performance issues.

EMP's Thermal Kit consists of a remote mount radiator, A/C condenser, two electric fans with fan reversal capability, an electric water pump and controllers.

The radiator is plumbed into the main engine cooling circuit, in parallel to the existing vehicle radiator. The new condenser replaces the vehicle's existing condenser. New lines for the refrigerant are run to the location of the Thermal Kit.

EMP's Thermal Kit works well under the most extreme conditions, particularly in severe-duty applications such as refuse/recycling, logging, construction, agriculture, mining and mass transit.

ALCOA DURA-BRIGHT WITH XBR

SHELL GREASE JUST FOR FIFTH WHEELS

Shell's new Retinax Fifth Wheel Grease is designed especially for use on the fifth wheel, where lubes have to stand up to heavy stress, constant sliding contact and exposure to the elements. The heavy-duty calcium grease has a high level of solid additives, including moly, offering excellent adhesive properties while remaining very resistant to water.

This new grease holds up to the washout and spray-off encountered during long hauls of wet highway driving, and also resists flaking.

THERMO KING RETRO KITS FOR CARB

Thermo King is offering several options to help businesses comply with the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) regulations for transport refrigeration units (TRUs).

Those options include Thermo King's Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) for TRUs, offering a 50 percent reduction in emissions with no scheduled maintenance. The kit includes the DPF, insulation, back pressure gauge, and the control box for select Isuzu engines.

An engine retrofit kit is one way to get a new Tier-II engine and achieve CARB compliance in one step. Thermo King technicians do the installation in the time it takes to put in a reman engine.

And Thermo King offers several ways to replace old units with CARB-compliant units, including trade-ins, lease options and financing through Ingersoll Rand Financial Services.
